A wedding goes awry and the morning after, friends and foes need to piece together the puzzle of the night before. In search of answers, a groom needs to pursue the love of his life, a bride has to untangle herself from the past and a waitress tries to escape the present.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Johan Cronje is a part-time musician and a full time filmmaker. He writes, directs, edits, and does a little bit of almost everything else. But he prefers the former.
A graduate from AFDA Johannesburg and the University of Cape Town, he spent most of his time sharpening his creative teeth in the editing chair for numerous award winning South African comedy and drama scripted content, most of which was produced by Nouvanaand Films – a Johannesburg based production company he co-founded and co-owns.
In 2017 he won a SAFTA Golden Horn award for Best Editing on a drama series, as well as Best Script at the 2017 Silwerskerm Film Festival for his debut feature film ‘Wonderlus’ – which he also directed and edited and received nominations for in both categories.
Wonderlus garnered much critical acclaim from South Africa’s biggest print and online publications, receiving numerous 4 and 5 star reviews. It won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the Silwerskerm Festival, and has been selected to screen at 5 international film festivals thus far, in both the US and the UK.
Congratulations to the WONDERLUS team! The featurehas been officially selected for the inaugural LOVE STORY Film Festival, London, 13-14 February 2019.
